November's Free Pattern Friday is a week late I'm afraid! I've not been feeling very well at all for the past few weeks (winter blues perhaps) and haven't felt up to blogging, designing or doing much of anything recently. However it hasn't stopped my Pinterest addiction and trying to hunt down the best free crochet/amigurumi patterns the internet has to offer! All through November I've been pinning and sharing lots of wonderful free Christmas patterns and here are 10 of my absolute favourites. I added my Christmas Elf pattern in there too - just to be a bit cheeky!

Sorry for the delay, I know a few of you out there look forward to Free Pattern Friday! If, like me, you love free patterns make sure to like Heart & Sew on Facebook where I share a new free amigurumi pattern every single day!

Gingerbread Men Christmas Tree Decorations - Tutorial

Is your Christmas tree full of handmade decorations too? Ours seems to have a timeline of my crafty Christmas makes from over the years, from about age 3 upwards! This year I was contacted by Wren Kitchens and asked if I would like to do a little tutorial for their #24DaysOfWren advent calendar - and if there's one thing I like to make at Christmas it's decorations! Try your hand at these super simple fimo gingerbread men. They're made entirely of polymer clay - they won't go stale and will keep for many years to come!

Christmas Elf - Free Crochet / Amigurumi Pattern

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock! Gosh that's all I've been singing ever since I started designing this little elf, complete with jingly shoes and hat! He is the most elaborate pattern I have ever designed, but I'm extremely pleased with how he turned out. The dungarees were a particular headache - I was tearing my hair for 3 nights straight until I managed to get them right!

Free Pattern Friday - October (10 Free Bear Patterns)

It's the last Friday of the month my friends - and that can only mean it's Free Pattern Friday! Hundreds of talented, budding designers are adding wonderful free patterns to the amigurumi world each day and I've made it my monthly mission to track the best ones down. In honour of the release of my free Three Bears pattern, this month it's all about bears! It was insanely difficult to find 10 bear patterns that were both decent and free but I think I got a pretty nice round up in the end! Here are my top 10 favourite FREE bear patterns that I've ever pinned on my amigurumi Pinterest board.

Home-Start Snowflake Appeal

Would you like to crochet this beautiful snowflake and help a good cause at the same time? My friends at Three Bears Yarn have teamed up with LoveCrochet.com and Kirstie Allsopp to support Home-Start - a charity that supports underprivileged families all across the UK. Last Christmas Home-Start were unable to help around 2000 families because they simply did not have the funds. This year they want to be able to support every family that needs them and have reached out to the crochet community for help. Read on to find out how you can get involved with this wonderful cause!

How To Easily Enlarge Any Amigurumi

Ever spent hours on a project that's come out, well, disappointingly small? I have. Sometimes smaller looks cheaper (even though we, the creator, know it's not!) and if you're giving your finished project as a gift you want to make it look as impressive as possible. Today I'm going to show you how to easily enlarge any amigurumi - without changing the pattern at all!

The Art of Crochet Magazine Review

It's no secret that I love craft magazines (that is, if you follow me on Instagram!) Mr Heart & Sew works from home and his job is very demanding. Sometimes when he's crazy busy working on something I'll head to the local shop and buy myself something crafty to read. It gives me some "me time" and there's nothing I love more than a crafty read, a glass of wine and a bubbly bath! So when The Art Of Crochet got in touch and offered me a free subscription in exchange for my honest thoughts I naturally said yes!

This lovely little family share the exact same pattern (believe it or not!) and are a perfect example of how experimenting with various yarn weights and hook sizes can produce very different amigurumi!

Little Cupcake Pincushion - Free Crochet / Amigurumi Pattern

This post contains affiliate links.

Yum! This cheery little cupcake looks good enough to eat (but please don't!) I designed this little guy based on a felt pincushion I made last Christmas for my friend Ruth. She absolutely loved the one I made her and ever since I've wanted to design a crochet version for me. This little guy will hold all of my needles and pins whilst looking super adorable on my craft desk too. I used bright embroidery floss to give him sprinkles but I don't even think I needed to - if you use pins with coloured heads they already look like real sprinkles! He's super quick & easy to make and only uses a small amount of yarn - a perfect "stash buster" project!

Figgy Willow Giveaway

One day whilst browsing the crochet tags on Instagram I came across these gorgeous, quirky plaques! I simply had to have one for my craft corner and, upon further investigation, discovered that they are by Figgy Willow - a handmade business specialising in hand painted clay signs and plaques. Figgy Willow is run by Sam, an English clay artist currently living on a little farm in Bulgaria. According to her Instagram profile, she spends her days chasing chickens in the Bulgarian sun, growing her own food and sculpting clay for her ever growing list of customers. Sounds like a life many of us crafters dream of!

Ballerina Mouse - Free Crochet / Amigurumi Pattern

This post contains affiliate links.

This little ballerina mouse will dance her way into your heart! This is the first amigurumi pattern I ever designed and I am extremely proud of how she turned out. She stands at just over 7 inches tall (she is a mouse after all!) and would make a perfect pocket pal for your aspiring little ballerina!

Yarn Box & The Three Bears

A few weeks ago I was approached on Instagram by a new, up and coming yarn company called Three Bears Yarn. They saw that I am an aspiring pattern designer just starting out in the world of design, and wanted me to try some of their yarn and give them my honest thoughts and feedback. As a new but small company lead by a family with a history of over 100 years of yarn dying experience, I was intrigued - I had to try this yarn. Their Instagram page is full of sample and trial colours, and some of the colours that will potentially be on offer are to die for, so naturally I said yes!

Free Pattern Friday - July

Happy Friday everyone! I've decided to dedicate the last Friday of every month on my blog to free patterns and tutorials! I'm very active on Pinterest and admittedly spend hours searching for and pinning the best free content I can find. I have built up quite a collection of free amigurumi patterns, sewing patterns and thousands more miscellaneous free craft tutorials over the last year. Here are my top 10 favourite patterns I've pinned this month.  July's theme is (of course) amigurumi!

Milkshakes, Geckos & Feeling Like a Designer...

It's been a week since I released my first amigurumi pattern (Cheeky Little Monkey) here on my blog and on Ravelry. I really wasn't quite sure what to expect but I've had such a positive response from the online crochet community. One Raveler kindly reported a minor typing error to me which was quickly amended, but other than that it's been smooth sailing so far. A few of my lovely Instagram friends even starting making him, which was massively exciting for me as an aspiring designer! In fact, the day after I posted my monkey pattern I was out for dinner at Five Guys (the BEST burger place in the UK) with my boyfriend Tom and our friend Lewis. We were in the middle of discussing wall paper options for Lewis' future game room and whether his pet gecko Paolo really was a Paolo and not a Paula, when my phone buzzed. My eyes widened and I jumped up shouting "SOMEONE'S MAKING MY MONKEY!" nearly spilling my strawberry milkshake all down me in the process. It was a great moment for me, someone was using my pattern! I felt like a designer for the first time ever and it was a wonderful feeling...

I'm a 27 year old pattern designer from Scotland! I love designing cute, crocheted toys. This blog documents my journey in pattern design, come follow me and pick up every new pattern I design for free along the way!
