Paintbox Yarn Review

"The Candy Shop" Colour Pack

I am a self confessed yarn fiend. You probably are too, don't deny it! I love yarn. Good yarn. I can spend ages picking yarn for a project. Or hours dreaming up the perfect project for a particularly scrumptious yarn or colour. I am also a self confessed yarn snob. I don't use anything but the best quality yarns for my designs, whether they are to be gifted to a loved one or just sitting on a shelf with the rest of my personal project collection. Good quality yarn doesn't have to be expensive. It doesn't have to be a particular blend either. Acrylic yarn can be just as viable as pure cotton blends for a truly professional finish - you just have to find the right brand!

Julie's Giraffe - Free Crochet / Amigurumi Pattern

This post contains affliliate links.

Meet my giraffe! I've been wanting to design a cutesy, baby shower style giraffe for what feels like forever. I had the idea of exactly what he would look like in my head for so long, I just had to find the perfect yarn and colour selection to bring him to life - and I did! This guy is made in Paintbox Simply Aran, one of my new favourite yarn brands. This yarn was amazing to work with, it's so soft and works up beautifully. Thank you so much to Paintbox & Love Crochet for letting me bring my vision to life with their yarn!

Ballerina Bunny - Free Crochet / Amigurumi Pattern

This post contains affiliate links.

Ballerina Bunny just loves to dance! Due to the popularity of my Ballerina Mouse pattern I thought I'd design a little bunny dancer too! The mouse was the first pattern I ever designed and I have come a long way since then.  This ballerina pattern is totally different to the mouse. The tutu is better, the feet have more shape and she has a little, white pom pom tail! On the whole this pattern is a lot cleaner. I may redesign my mouse with the new improved body, what do you think?

Knit Pro, Paige's Painting's & Hobium Giveaway

I'm a happy hooker and I have the balls to prove it! Seriously, I do. Hundreds of them. Don't open my wardrobe unless you want to be snowed under in a yarn avalanche. When I saw this amazing, hand painted shopping bag from Paige's Paintings I just had to have one for my craft store shopping expeditions! Knowing my readers would love one too, the talented artist behind these bags was kind enough to provide another for my little giveaway! Thank you Gemma!

Hobium Yarns Review

I love being let loose in my local craft store. Seriously, I'm like a kid in a candy shop. I spend hours looking at all the different craft tools and materials, juggling an armful of yarn, sewing kits and felt until Tom puts his foot down and goes off looking for a basket. He eventually gets bored and wanders off to look at model kits or paints (Tom is an excellent painter) and leaves me floating blissfully around the yarn aisles. I love these kind of days out so much that I've never really considered going craft shopping online before. However, when a brand new online craft store called Hobium Yarns got in touch and offered me a little spending spree in return for an honest review on my blog... how could I say no?

Mallow The Monster - Free Crochet / Amigurumi Pattern

Say hello to Mallow! I designed Mallow for last years amigurumipatterns.net design contest, the theme being "monsters". Sadly Mallow did not place as well as I'd hoped. There were a lot of elaborate and brilliant entries and I think perhaps his design was a little too simple. He turned out super cute though so I'm happy, and now you can make him too! Feel free to make him your own, make him bright red, give him spots, 3 eyes, a tail, whatever! Let your creativity run wild and create your own special monster.

Christmas Crocheting

I may have been absent from my blog for most of 2016 but I wasn't absent from designing! Back in August, Let's Get Crafting magazine got in touch looking for a few Christmas patterns for their new website Craft Store. LGC magazine offer their very own brand of yarn with every issue and they wanted me to make some Christmas decorations with their new Christmas colours.

I'm a 27 year old pattern designer from Scotland! I love designing cute, crocheted toys. This blog documents my journey in pattern design, come follow me and pick up every new pattern I design for free along the way!
